Designing a modern bathroom
When it comes to designing a modern bathroom, less is more. A truly modern bathroom demands simplicity in design and the latest functional technology. A minimalist design allows the bathroom to expand with simple elegance. Bright colours are strictly taboo. Neutral tones make it easier to attain a coordinated design while remaining current with the latest gadgetry.
Since bathrooms tend to be humid, heating is critical for reducing the moisture. Just as regular fixtures like bath tubs, shower enclosures and even soap dispensers have received a modern makeover, electric heaters have too. You can find numerous heaters with such a sleek design, that it’s hard to recognize them for what they are.
A black glass electric heater accented with chrome or stainless steel rails for drying towels and keeping them warm, is a beautiful, and dual-purpose addition. Some electric heaters use radiant technology for the best of convection and radiant heat. Some new PIR (Person in Room) electric heaters turn on with a timer or when activated by a person entering the bathroom. A PIR heater will remain running after the bathroom is vacated to dry the air. Electric heaters come in a wide variety of colours and shapes, so finding one to match the décor is no problem.
Heated floors are popular, but they may be too expensive. If so, use large floor tiles to enhance the spacious appearance. Avoid painting the walls in any unusual colour. Stick to white, off-white and ochre for the most modern results. Marble tiling is great for the walls.
Fewer knick-knacks keep the space open and reduce the cluttered effect. Large mirrors, wall-mounted sinks and vanities, one-piece toilets and plenty of chrome are all recommended for a modern-styled bathroom. Geometric faucet styles add to the look.
Shower stalls and bathtubs must be as modern as the rest of the room. A bathroom dominated by glass, chrome and mirrors will not look modern if the bathtub is moulded plastic. There are many shower stalls that use multiple shower heads to add an impressive touch, not to mention a virtual whirlpool within the stall.
